While working on a more sculptural approach to the cover design, I came across this shape which I rendered from several different vantage points before settlilng on this one. It was later noted by a colleague that the form looks like a model of the inner ear. It has struck me as a fitting presumption.
Coincidently, Logic has a very versitile sound synthesis module named "Sculpture". It produces incredibly beautiful sounds based on real-world resonance modeling. I was somewhat struck by that when moving towards this mode for the book cover.
Completed in fall of 2007.
